The Hokies Take Flight

Coming into Week 8 Virginia Tech had a 4.6% chance to win the conference title. Then the dominos fell perfectly into place. In just their second season in the league, Virginia Tech won the ACC. This is an incredible accomplishment that is incredibly rare in the CFSL.

Virginia Tech was able to accomplish this with a close win over North Carolina. WR Ahmad Williams and HB Malcom Dansby led the charge offensively. Williams caught 11 passes for 103 yards and found the endzone once. Dansby had 100 total yards while averaging 4.8 rushing yards per carry.

On defense, MLB Chris Wolfe and FS Ziggy Zelinski both had 10 tackles in this game. Wolfe also added a pair of tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

The Hokies claimed the conference crown and the top four seed that comes with it. They will play Texas in Blacksburg on Thursday night in their playoff debut.

Atlantic Coast Tidal Wave

The ACC has been the best conference in the league this season and the playoffs are further evidence of that. Five of the six ACC teams will be playing in the postseason. Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Miami all got via the automatic bid. Clemson and North Carolina both earned a vote-in spot. No other conference had more than four teams make the playoffs.

Tom Pence, Governor of Florida

This past week we had a great game between Miami and Florida State. It was a hard-fought battle, but the Seminoles came out on top. The final score was 41-34.

WRs Rashaud Williams and TE Sean Huff both had over 100 receiving yards per game (116 and 105, respectively). However, it was the rushing attack that put up the points. HB Dee Money led the charge, rushing for two of the four rushing touchdowns the Seminoles had.

The defense did their best to keep Miami HB Bo Yost in check and they didn’t do a bad job. Yost still got over the four-yards-a-carry average, but barely. OLB Quavious Ball (4), DE Monty Leak (3), and SS Kareem Ali (2) all had multiple TFLs as they attacked Miami’s rushing game.

The Seminoles gave themselves a chance at the conference title with this win, but ultimately Virginia Tech would steal it from them. However, this win gave them a top-8 seed. They will start the Season 22 postseason at home against Oklahoma on Tuesday night.

ACC Game of the Week

This was incredibly hard to choose, but I had to go with North Carolina vs Michigan State. I think this might be the hardest game to pick that I have ever seen in the CFSL. Which Tar Heels team will show up? Which Spartan team will show up? This game could be close or a complete blowout by either team and I would not be shocked. This is a can’t miss game in the opening round of the playoffs.
