Clemson vs Auburn

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I know it’s just week one but you will not find too many games like the one we seen last night in the CFSL!

In what was an amazing showing by both teams, it was the Tigers that reside in Clemson that had the last laugh. Blake Moon’s Auburn Tigers had plenty of firepower to knock down any team in the CFSL. The fast start put Clemson in a 21 point deficit going into halftime.

The fans at the Temple of Greatness wrote this off as another Blake Moon Showcase and victory was confirmed. Clemson looked like all of the preseason hype was going to be wiped away with every deep pass by Moon.

Then the third quarter came around and the shift of momentum shook the crowd. Stop after stop occurred and before we knew it, the game was tied!

It was an amazing site to see and I’m going to have a great time reviewing this game. Let’s get to it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Clemson”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Wow. I don’t even know where to begin with this team. I believe that we can all start with saying that DJ Moss showed the world why he was the #1 Prospect when he came into the league.

It didn’t come without his fair share of mistakes, throwing two huge INTs in the first half that set up the deficit. There was no man on that field that showed more heart than this guy. Leading the offense down the field with ease and putting the team on his back like Greg Jennings! He finished the game with 5 total TDs and was the leading rusher for Clemson.

Speaking of rushing, their lead HB Adric Khaan also made his presence felt when his team needed him. His slow start to the game was all thanks to a stout Auburn defense but as the game went on, he was in All American status. He finished the game with two Touchdowns and over 305 All Purpose Yards. AK-47 played a huge role in what was the biggest comeback in CFSL History.

The receiving game was a help all around in different areas. The WR core led by Anthony Robertson III and Cadillac Chadwick made plays throughout the game in both the receiving and blocking aspects.

The offense was the ones that put points on the board but it was the defense that gave them the opportunities to win this game.

Barry Allen and Kobe King led the defense to hold the Auburn offense to just 10 points in the second half! Forcing a fumble, two INTs and multiple stops in the backfield that stopped Blake Moon and the gang from retaining their momentum.

Strong Safety Jordyn Hall was harassing Blake Moon in the backfield all night long. He made multiple stops in the back field for this defense in his debut game. Hall finished the game with 13 tackles with five of those tackles being for a loss.

Defensive End “Money” Mike Miller also had a great start to the season with holding the Auburn offense in check. He ended the game with two sacks and a heads up fumble recovery in the comeback.

It was an all around team effort by this defense and it was a beautiful sight to see. They all played for each other to make it all possible. The fire they showed trickled down to the offense that had a few troubles late in the second quarter.

They stuck with the game plan and they found a way to get it done when they needed it the most. They didn’t get discouraged when Blake Moon hit long pass after long pass for TDs.

They took the body blows and threw their haymakers to make the comeback a reality. Outstanding job by this Clemson team and congratulations on your first ever victory!

They started slow, gave an early lead and they didn’t look good for them. All of the sudden, Blake Moon took a hit of the Juice of Greatness™ to strike deep pass after deep pass over the Clemson defense for TDs.

Blake Moon was in his zone and it didn’t look like anybody can stop him. A true man on a mission to reclaim his greatness from Season One. For a good while, he showed shades of a true student to the game. Even showed off a beautiful pass TD on fourth down to really rip the hearts out of the Clemson sideline.

The fans wanted more blood but the Auburn offense could capitalize on the moves in the second quarter. A turnover led to a stop on 3rd down. That stop led to an INT and by the time you checked your watch, they were only up by seven points.

That short lead didn’t last long after they got stopped again on offense. The offense stumbled onto one TD in the third quarter and a field goal in the fourth.

The spark was gone and it fell apart down the stretch. Blake Moon finished the game with over 400 passing yards and 5 TDs.

Wayne Carter and Alex A. Cook both had amazing games for Auburn. They combined for over 300 receiving yards and 5 TDs with Weezy gaining the edge with 4 of them. I will say that Weezy stole the show early, snagging one handed catches like he was still in ore game workouts. The only issue is that both receivers were non factors in the second half. They will be looking forward to next week to show this effort throughout the entire game.

On defense, the best thing they did was slow down the firearms of the South Carolina Militia. They made the lives of AK-47 and AR-15 difficult as possible.

Although Adric Khaan made his toughest runs as the game went on, that was one reason why the lead got as big as it did early in the game. AR-15 was held to just one catch for six yards the whole game, forcing him to make his impact in other less glamorous ways.

For one half, the AR/DJ/AK Connection was disconnected by the Auburn defense. Eric LeClear, Edgar Allen and Tony Bryant led the defense in a valiant effort but couldn’t last to the shots the Clemson offense was firing.

DJ Moss was not playing up to par midway through the game, but the second half Auburn defense could not slow down the #1 Prospect and AK-47 when they needed it. At the end of the game, the Auburn defense gave up over 270 rushing yards to DJ and AK.

The best news for Auburn is that this is definitely a game they can build on. Their whole team is stacked from top to bottom and with an offense as electric as this, there is no limit to where they can go.

Giving up 31 points in the second half and only scoring 10 in that span is never a good thing. Knowing that they were one stop (or two missed field goals) away from closing this game still has them in a great spot to learn from this and come back firing next week.[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”Turning Point”][vc_column_text]You’re probably wondering why I said nothing about the run game for the Auburn offense in the Auburn section. That’s because it was mostly nonexistent in this game because of this hungry Clemson defense.

Besides a few first downs here and there, 98% of their offense came from Blake Moon and his arm. They tested the defense with Billy Carter and Blake Moon in the option game but the defense quickly made sure the run game was a non factor and it showed with the amount of long conversions they had to make (and eventually failed).

One drive that stood out was where they tried three straight run plays and didn’t cross the first down marker in either try. The Clemson run defense told offensive coordinators that they should think again about running on this defense.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Everything Clemson felt as the game went on, the thoughts in the Auburn Tigers were the complete opposite.
