While everyone’s attention is focused, and for very good reason, on tonight’s CFSL National Championship game I want to turn my attention to the new blood entering the league. It was at this exact time, during Season 9, that I found the link to the CFSL on my Facebook page. Curiosity got the better of me and now, a season later, I am enjoying myself far more than I could have ever imagined.

I wasn’t sure what to expect at first. I had a ton of questions, but a lot of different people had reached out to me to welcome me to the league and offer answers to questions I didn’t even know I had yet. And any time I did have a question pop up, I was able to ask within League Chat, or directly ask someone, and the answer was soon sent my way.

But enough about me, let’s talk to the incoming talent. You have entered the league at a great moment. Tonight, we crown a champion. Either the Aggies of Texas A&M or the Buckeyes of The Ohio State University will walk away victorious. So tune in on Twitch to see who takes the title as, for some of you, this will be your very first taste of CFSL action. Enjoy it, enjoy the excitement and the passion that comes with the game. After tonight, the focus turns to recruiting, to you. So sit back and enjoy the ride.

I’m not going to lie, the first week or so may seem long. The anticipation of recruiting will set in, and if you’re not a five star it could feel even longer. Once that day arrives, your day to shine and talk with teams, it will hit full force. Regardless of your star rating your phone is going to blow up from recruiting pitches. It just may not happen day one given the recruiting structure, with different days for different star levels. Either way, you are going to have your chance to experience the excitement of being a big time recruit. For those of you, like me, who never got the chance to feel this coming out of high school as an athlete it will be a blast.

“That sounds great Bigmurph23, but do you have any advice for us?” Why of course I do! Enjoy the ride and be as active as possible. This a fun experience, and part of that experience is putting yourself out there in chat and interacting with all, having fun conversations. The more active you are, the more teams will want you. High activity levels mean that you are going to have teams competing for YOU. Another bit of advice, keep an open mind and pay attention to when your recruiting period begins. You may think that you have a specific school in mind, but listen to everyone who recruits you. You never know, one coach or AD may make a pitch that changes your mind.

So really what I’m saying is welcome to the new blood. You will be hard pressed to find a better group of people, and better fun out there. The CFSL is a great community, puts out a great product, and most importantly is extremely fun. Watch the title game tonight, be active and engaging with everyone in the chat, including the broadcasters. Step inside and welcome to the jungle.
