We are back with another week of the best freshmen performances article. This week we had some amazing games that were played and past freshmen to check in with. How mixed up will Week 3’s list be or will we have some of the same from Weeks 1 and 2?

Best Offensive Performances From Week 3

Saint Major, QB, Cincinnati

The Bearcats have started with 2 losses on the year but in both games, Saint Major has been a focal part of the Bearcats offensive success. This week Cincinnati welcomed the North Carolina Tar Heels and from the start, it looked like it would be a good game. Saint Major looked amazing this week as he threw for 448 yards and 5 touchdowns as Cincinnati finally got their first win of the year.

Nas Mason, HB, Illinois

Mason makes his debut on the list in Week 3 with a huge performance against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Mason ended the game with 21 rushing attempts for 141 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns as the Illinois Fighting Illini came out victorious over their conference rival Buckeyes 63-34.

Jalen Irvin, WR, Miami

Jalen makes his second top-performance article in three weeks with an amazing game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Irvin was taking the top off the Irish secondary as he ended the game with 5 receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns as Miami took care of business 55-28 over the Irish.

Best Defensive Performances

Hannibal Recker, MLB, Colorado

Colorado LB Hannibal Recker drove to get to the action of the play.

Hannibal makes his debut on the list this week for the Colorado defense. Recker made his presence known all over the field for Colorado with 14 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 interception. Colorado had a very tough opponent this week though. Penn State took care of business, beating the Buffaloes 52-43.

Nic Lee, SS, Georgia

Nic makes his debut on the list as well this week, making his presence known in the Georgia secondary. Lee ended the game with 11 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Georgia fell short against LSU though, losing to the Tigers 34-31.

Alex Thompson, FS, Tennessee

Alex makes his debut on the list for his performance against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Thompson ended the game with 10 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Even though Alabama came in and took care of business, Thompson came into the game wanting to show everyone he deserves a spot on this list.

This week’s list gave some recognition to freshmen who had already been on the list as well as having some new faces join the list. Will we see the same names on the list in week 4 or will new freshmen prove they are worthy of a spot on the list?
