For those old enough, you will remember guys like Robert Horry or Charles Haley. Wherever they went, championship rings seemed to follow. Well, the CFSL has its own Big Shot Rob. His name is Kevin Davis.
Davis, now entering his senior season, has won 3 consecutive National Championships. He won the first two as a member of the Kentucky Wildcats. However, after winning those he decided to transfer to be with his brother, MLB Derrick Davis, in Southern California. With the Trojans, Davis won this third ring in as many seasons.
“He calls me his good luck charm,” Davis said of his brother. Davis has been a good luck charm indeed, but that is not to sell short his contribution. Davis has caught for over 600 yards in each of his three seasons and has found the endzone a total of 13 times. He was a big part of each of the championship teams.
Despite his great luck and skill, Davis is still humble. When asked what the secret to his success has been he replied, “Great coaching and great teammates.” He added, “I have been lucky to have both at USC and Kentucky.”
To my knowledge, there has never been a player in the league to win three straight championships (if I am wrong, please let me know in league chat). Now he will try to finish his career with a perfect four titles. “It’s gonna be tough. This league is crazy with talent,” Daivs said. “But if we focus and our coaches do good like last year I’d say anything is possible.” I would wish him the best of luck, but I don’t think he needs any more of it.
