The ACC has a three-way tie for first right now. This could be a wild finish in the ACC, but for now, let’s look at what stands out the most for each team.
North Carolina – The Tar Heels Fooled Us
The Tar Heels had a slow start to the offseason and it appeared as if they might be heading to a rough season. However, that was not the case. They stuck with the process, got an influx of talent, and hit the gym hard. Now UNC is 3-1 with their only loss coming against Auburn.
Now North Carolina is in a position to compete for their second straight conference title. The competition will be tough, but the Tar Heels are for real.
Florida State – Grin’s Legacy
Earlier this season Florida State AD Tom Pence became the winningest AD in league history. He followed that up by becoming the first AD ever to reach 75 career wins. While there is much to talk about with the Seminoles this season (including a QB chasing down records) nothing sticks out more than Grin’s major milestone.
Once again, congratulations to Tom for an amazing career. His team looks strong this season and he could add quite a few more wins to his total before the season ends.
Miami – The Bo Yost Show
The CFSL’s leading rusher has been electric this season. Yost is averaging 5.2 yards per carry and became the first player to reach 500 rushing yards this season. His 16 broken tackles are second in the league right now as well. His fantastic performances have helped his team get off to a 3-1 start on the season.
Next week Miami faces North Carolina, who has the 4th best run defense in the league. An unstoppable force is meeting an immovable object. Who will come out on top?
Virginia Tech – Pass First, Ask Questions Later
The Virginia Tech passing attack has been a blast to watch. They average the third-most passing yards per game right now. Quarterback Saint Major has passed for 1,850 yards, which is the second-most in the league. And with his weapons, that is going to continue to skyrocket. WR’s Aloysius Jefferies, Savannah Olzer, and Ahmad Williams are all over 300 yards receiving this season and have a combined 9 touchdowns.
This passing attack is special. The Hokies are 1-3 right now, but they could be a real threat in the ACC as soon as next season and they will make some noise this season.
Notre Dame – A Developing Star
Notre Dame HB Olin Norris is having a strong start to the season. He has 462 total yards this season for the Irish. That is nearly double what he did last season for Syracuse. Norris is still searching for his first 100-yard rushing game, but he has been within 19 yards of it in three different games this season. It is only a matter of time.
This season hasn’t been kind to the Irish, but the future could be bright with developing stars like Norris.
Clemson – Built For the Future
The Tigers are 0-4 with the youngest team in the CFSL. This might not be their season, but they are built for a fast rebuild. They have emerging stars on both sides of the field, like WR Auston Oaks, TE Darnell Holmes IV, S Rocky Fink, and S Mo Love.
New AD Logan Wetzel has built the foundation for a fast rebuild. This team might struggle this season, but the future looks bright.
