Was That a Typo?
With the crazy weather we experienced this week, I was not able to watch all of the games as they happened. When I looked at the box score for Texas A&M at the Colorado game, my initial reaction was to ask a few people if Colorado really beat them 62-27. The Buffalos put up 615 yards of offense and forced four turnovers on defense. It is safe to say that Colorado dominated this game from the start and finished with 21 points in the fourth quarter to make a statement!
Quarterback Sky Sanders threw for 457 yards and added four touchdowns and no interceptions. Another big aspect of the game was Halfback Taylor James, who had 136 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries. On defense sophomore Cornerback Jules Sanders picked off Aggies Quarterback Owen Dart twice in the game to help the defense. One of the bright spots for the Aggies on offense was freshman Halfback Felisa Sneed who had 105 yards of total offense and a touchdown.
The Aggies’ defense had two players who stood out the most in this game. Linebacker Jason Quinn had 16 tackles and three for loss as well as getting a sack and a forced fumble. Quinn tried to will the Aggies to victory single-handedly. Quinn had fellow Linebacker Emerson Speraw add 10 tackles and one for a loss as well.
The Momentum Rollercoaster
The Texas Longhorns opened up the first quarter with a 14-0 lead over the LSU Tigers in their nail-biting victory. Freshman Quarterback Bo Jones made his first start and did nothing short of impress everyone who saw the game. He threw for 367 yards and two touchdowns but did a great job making reads and protecting the football. At halftime, the Longhorns had a 17-10 lead but came out dominant in the third quarter and outscored the Tigers 10-0.
The fourth quarter was wild, and the LSU Tigers marched back into the game after being down 17 points. With 3:42 left in the game and down by 10 points the Tigers Free Safety TyVon Jackson forced a fumble at their own 25-yard line as Texas was about to score again. Defensive Tackle Vladimir Luca recovered the ball and gave the LSU Tigers another chance to come back for what many would consider an upset. On the fourth play of the drive for LSU, Quarterback Sean Keohane found wide receiver Nasir Pope for a 59-yard touchdown to close the game within three points.
In the final 2:54 minutes of the game, Bo Jones and Halfback Joey Duncan ran out the clock to seal the win in Death Valley. What a performance by a freshman quarterback in their first career game. This game could easily be the game of the week, and it was a blast to watch.
Just Short of a Hundred
The Oklahoma Sooners continued their winning ways as they knocked off West Virginia 55-42 in a high-scoring slobber knocker. Sooner Wide Receiver Roger Blackwell had six catches for 134 yards and Halfback DJ Yost had 154 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. Somehow Oklahoma continues to find ways to get the halfback duo of DJ Yost and William Avery scoring touchdowns as they have both scored in each of the last two games.
Quarterback Gunner Rice had another great performance with 412 passing yards and four touchdowns and on defense Free Safety Brent Dale had 14 tackles with three being for a loss and Linebacker Al Pine had 12 tackles with one for a loss. The Mountaineers also had a defensive touchdown from Cornerback JT Miller who ran the pick back for 51 yards and the score. In the end, West Virginia just did not start strong enough as the first half-point differential was just too much to overcome.

Big 12 Game of the Week
This week will provide all kinds of great CFSL Big 12 action that is sure to entertain, but I am going to have to give the game of the week to Colorado at Texas! The big week from Colorado last week has them looking to fight for an automatic playoff bid and what better way than to make a statement against the defending Big 12 champions? This could be a high-scoring game for sure and I am not for sure the over, but it’s got to be a strong choice for sure. Until next time, keep your game face on and your spirits high!
