Everyone in the league dreams of winning a title. To be part of a team that propels itself past everyone else is the best feeling. However, even in most people’s wildest dreams, they never imagined they could win four National Championships in a single career.
Kevin Davis doesn’t need to dream. He did it.
USC’s star wide receiver started his career with Kentucky in Season 18. He spent two seasons with the Wildcats, winning back-to-back National Championships there. After Season 19, he decided to transfer to USC so that he could play with his brother, MLB Derrick Davis. In Season 20 he helped the Trojans capture their second-ever Championship Ring. And Monday night, he once again finished a season as a champion.
No player in CFSL history has ever won four National Championships in a single career. When asked about this feat, Davis said, “It’s very awesome and I’m still at a loss for words.”
You might think that four rings can go to a guy’s head, but Davis remains humble. He was quick to give his coaches much of the credit for his success, saying, “Without the coaching staff I wouldn’t see us getting the wins.” He also mentioned his brother, who refers to Kevin as his good luck charm. He said his brother was very excited about Kevin’s accomplishment but is upset that his brother is graduating this season.
This is an accomplishment that is so great, that it would be impossible to beat. One could tie him (which would be impressive), but no one can beat him. Perhaps even Daivs’ next player could do it, something that he didn’t rule out. “I’d say anything can happen but it’s very unlikely I’ll get another four in a row, ” Davis said. Winning four National Championships in a row also seemed very unlikely until Monday night. Congrats, Kevin.
