The Big XII didn’t go at all how it was expected to last season. This was by far the most competitive conference last season and many believe it might even be more competitive this coming season. Let’s take a look at how things finished last season.
Last Season’s Standings
Conference Rank | Team |
1 | Colorado |
2 | Texas A&M |
3 | Texas |
4 | Oklahoma |
5 | LSU |
6 | West Virginia |
AD Coaches Poll
Projected Finish | Team | 1st Place Votes |
1 | Texas | 5 |
2 | Oklahoma | – |
3 | Colorado | – |
4 | Texas A&M | 1 |
5 | LSU | – |
6 | West Virginia | – |
Texas was a uniamous pick for the top spot, but things got wild behind them. As you can see, Texas A&M was the only other team to receive, but still finished 4th in the projections. The margin between Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas A&M was razor thin, which is a big reason why Texas had the largest lead in the AD Coaches Poll of any team.
The Wookie Era in LSU has caused a lot of excitement, but it didn’t move the needle for the ADs in the Big XII. They still have the Tigers staying in fifth. West Virginia was picked to remain at the bottom.
Last season the ADs of the Big XII were WAY off in their projections. This was thanks in large part to Colorado and Oklahoma shocking the CFSL. We will see if these projections will be just as crazy or perhaps they got more accurate.
