A Close One
Miami came out strong against USC in an exciting football matchup, earning recognition as one of the two ACC games nominated for Game of the Week. This was no surprise, as both teams have impressive rosters and skilled coaching staffs.
In the first quarter, both teams gave their all, trading blows and accumulating a combined total of 11 points, with USC leading at the end of the quarter. Solid performances were evident on both the offensive and defensive sides, keeping the score close throughout the game. Ultimately, USC showcased its ability to secure a victory by pulling ahead in the final quarter. I can’t think of a better way to conclude non-conference play than with such a tightly contested matchup.
I also spoke with Miami’s Athletic Director, George Yost, about his thoughts on the game and their preparations for conference play. AD Yost noted that both teams have a “similar makeup,” which contributes to quality football as they can devise effective game plans against each other. He expressed his anticipation of facing USC again in the future. When discussing the upcoming game against UNC, their first conference match of the season, he mentioned that the team is “hungry” to extend their winning streak against UNC. It’s worth noting that both Athletic Directors—Miami’s George Yost and UNC’s Daniel Gunn—come from the Dobbins and Ware Coaching Tree. This upcoming game promises to be entertaining, and I’m excited for the action!
Complete Dominance
The game between UNC and UGA can be described as a showcase of dominance on the gridiron. UNC has had an impressive start to the season, proving to be a tough opponent. In their matchup against UGA, UNC managed to shut out UGA for two quarters—the first and the third—scoring 17 points in each of those quarters while preventing UGA from scoring at all. That’s a clear display of dominant football from UNC.
With a 3-0 start to the season, UNC looks like a team that could be vying for a National Championship. Under the leadership of Daniel Gunn, who is now in his seventh season, it seems he has finally assembled a squad capable of making a serious run for the title. Half of UNC’s coaching staff has been focused on game planning for Miami since they faced off against Penn State in Week 2. They are preparing for a close battle against Miami, and Gunn is determined to pull out all the stops to end Miami’s winning streak against UNC.
