Week 3 of Conference Play

In Week 6 of Season 22 of the CFSL, we are officially in the third week of conference play, and let me tell you was it an interesting one. We had a team upset a favored team and teams are gearing up for the playoffs. As we are starting the back half of Season 22 it should be interesting. Anyway, let’s break down some of the action that happened this week in the ACC.

A Close Call and a Upset

This week two things stood out to me the most: the Notre Dame VS Florida State game and the Clemson VS UNC game. Both games were great and poised for possible upsets but only one of those teams pulled off an upset.

Notre Dame VS Florida State

At first, it seemed that Florida State would easily walk away with a victory, until Notre Dame started clicking on all cylinders, making it much harder for Florida State to secure the win.

For the most part, the game appeared evenly matched. A look at the box scores shows that Florida State’s victory is even sweeter. Notre Dame hoped for a win, as there was not much time left in the season to qualify for the playoffs without a vote.

Two standout players in this game were Matt Perez and Dee Money. Matt Perez had a solid game, completing 34 of 45 passes for 343 yards, 2 touchdowns, and just 1 interception. Meanwhile, Dee Money also performed well, rushing 23 times for 128 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 21-yard run.

This game is undoubtedly a classic tale of giving it your all on the gridiron, with the unfortunate reality that only one team walks away victorious.

Clemson VS North Carolina

This game was my favorite of the week, as the underdog Clemson upset North Carolina, which was ranked 5th overall at the time. Does this victory earn Clemson a ranking they likely deserve after competing against tough teams all season and pulling off an upset like this? We’ll have to wait and see, but this is a sleeper team to consider when game-planning for the ADs and coaches.

Bojack Merryweather had another outstanding performance, completing 25 out of 36 passes for 296 yards, 3 touchdowns, and just 1 interception.

Potential ACC Game of the Week

Be on the lookout for an exciting week of ACC football. This week is a hard one to choose what I think may be the ACC potential game of the week as I feel all of these games could be it. But I have to only pick one and that’s gonna be Miami at Notre Dame as I think Notre Dame has a chip on their shoulders and is out to prove something this coming week of football.
