The Miami Hurricanes are your Season 22 CFSL Championship. This is their second Championship. They won their first in Season 9. This was also the first Championship for Miami AD George Yost. I sat down with Yost to talk to him about his time in the CFSL, the road to the championship, and the championship game.
Yost joined the league in Season 9 and started his career with Toledo in Season 9. Things came full circle for Yost when he took over the head coaching job at Toledo in Season 18. One season later he took over Miami.
Before this season, Yost led Miami to the final four in two of the three seasons he has been there. However, they always fell just short of the championship game. This season, however, they made it. “I am so happy that I get to experience this with this group of guys,” Yost said about making the Season 22 National Championship.
However, making the National Championship wasn’t the final goal. I asked Yost how he felt before the game and he said, “I was nervous, each playoff game brought that about.” He also added that the North Carolina game had him more nervous since they had played each other so much.
The National Championship Game was fantastic and came down to the wire. Bo Yost, George’s player, scored the game-winning touchdown. “What a way to end your career. Time running out, your last carry, you end it with, the game-winning TD run. Legendary stuff we saw that night,” Yost said.
And now Yost and the Hurricanes are Champions. “It feels Great. Something you work to obtain,” Yost said. “The best part [is] you did it with others. A group came together to achieve a goal and we did it.” Congrats to Yost and his team!
