The final game of the night will see the Longhorns travel to Washington to take on the huskies. Both teams saw major changes to their roster this offseason and both teams went in different directions when it came to building them back up. This will be the 2nd All-Time meeting between these two teams as Texas won the 1st back in season 3. Will the Longhorns repeat or will the new look Huskies prevail.
Texas
Offense
Texas will look to continue lighting up the league on the offensive end. The Longhorns lost Star RB Geaux Bamba in the offseason, but replaced him with the top rated RB from this years recruiting class, Tarraj Walker. Joining the Texas Two Step Duo of Vincent McCoy and Scooby Lewis is the former horned frog, Ray “Convict” Conley. Those players are hard enough to guard as is but it’s even more difficult when you have to account for Junior TE Jackson James. Ray Tatum is the one responsible for throwing the ball to these studs and he had done well in years past winning last season OPOY award.
Defense
Exit Justin Boudreaux, Enter Howard Cook. He, along with reigning DPOY Jimbo Smithers , will look to fill the hole that Boudreaux left. Terrence Top will continue to lock down opposing receivers and this year will be opposite Jakari June.
Washington
Offense
Its going to be much of the same for the Washington offense as Doug Ohle and Ron Dayne Jr will continue to terrorize opposing defenses. The only other player who played offense for the Huskies who is still on the roster is Sophomore WR Lord Helix who is joined by Sophmore Transfer Jace Rosser and Senior Kayode Imani.
Defense
Richard Bradley and Raekwon Dong will form the Huskies new defensive line. That Duo is joined in the front 7 by Erik Langston, a 5 Star Sophmore LB who looks to build on a stellar freshman season. Austin Johnson, Freddy Petty, and Bradley Knox are all familiar faces from last season but are joined by new additions safeties Bubba Bullard and Digger Graves.
Key Matchup
Washington RB Ron Dayne JR versus Texas S JImbo Smithers
Jimbo Smithers is known to ravage opposing teams backfields. The question is will he be able to continue this trend against one of the best RBs the CFSL has ever seen in Ron Dayne Jr.
Prediction
Texas has consistently been one of the best teams in the league since it joined. With so many new pieces on this Washington defense I doubt they can gel quick enough to stop Texas’ high-powered offense. I think it will be a close game for much of the contest but I expect Texas to break away close to the end.
