Week three is in the books, so let’s get you caught up on what you might have missed this week.
OHIO STATE vs. CLEMSON
Well, this one was an exciting one, and Ohio State finally beat Clemson. Their stifling defense gave Clemson signal-caller Will Slay some grief, both in the passing game and rushing game. Slay threw a pick, but also had two scores through the air with another on the ground. He didn’t play poorly but had some challenges. The real story, though, was the effectiveness of the Ohio State offense. Tailback Frost Carlson gashed the Tigers defense on the ground, while quarterback Xavier Garcia-Allen’s efficient play led the Buckeyes to a clean game and the two score win.
Final: Ohio State 44, Clemson 30
NEBRASKA vs. MIAMI
This wasn’t how we anticipated this game going down. The defenses came to play and the offenses were left wondering. When two offenses combine for 17 points, it’s going to be a long night. Nebraska halfback Dowdy Dowell had the lone score for the Cornhuskers while Hurricane quarterback Jose Bueno ran one in himself. Both Bueno and Nebraska quarterback James Kovach threw a pick in this defensive slugfest.
Final: Nebraska 7, Miami 10
NOTRE DAME vs. TEXAS
Texas just can’t seem to get up off the mat. The Longhorns have quarterback Walker Mills playing well, they just can’t get him into position to close games. Now, part of that falls on the defense. After all, Mills put up 268 yards through the air and a score with another 135 yards on the ground and a pair of scores. The real story is Notre Dame signal-caller Leo Asiata finally got the rust shaken off. He put up two touchdowns through the air and avoided any turnovers, while tailback Vidar Lund got rumbling to the tune of 158 yards with two rushing scores. The Irish finally got their win and Texas is 0-3 for the first time in their history.

ALABAMA vs. MICHIGAN
Talk about your wild third quarters. Three touchdowns scored in the span of 20 seconds is pretty wild, much like Michigan receiver Georgio Pipino’s 13 catches for 216 yards with four receiving touchdowns. To put that into perspective, the senior signal-caller for the Wolverines, Dewey Ainge, only threw five touchdown passes. That said, Alabama quarterback Balion Siege had four passing touchdowns, and tailback Joe Pantoja sped off for 213 yards with two scores. Oh, and safety Lamar Fant had a kick return for a touchdown. The Crimson Tide remain one of two unbeatens in the CFSL.

Auburn Vs. Oregon
The story here was redzone struggles. Both offenses had difficulties and both quarterbacks threw an interception in the redzone. Oregon could move the length of the field behind the arm of quarterback Devonta Cribbs, but struggled to finish drives with touchdowns. Auburn had tailback Robert Davis moving things right along, setting the pace with a 75 yard touchdown run on his first touch of the game. Davis’ legs were the driving force behind Auburn’s efficient offense and the win.
Final: Auburn 27, Oregon 10
FLORIDA vs. USC
The week three finale wasn’t much different than how Thursday night opened. Defenses forcing punts and turnovers, and offenses having to settle for field goals. Florida quarterback Mathias St. John looked the most comfortable he’s ever looked all season, but the conservative nature of the playcalling limited some of his impressive runs, as St. John tallied 99 yards on 19 carries, showing toughness in the process. Still, Gator transfer Kingston Fox, the USC quarterback, led his offense on a fantastic two minute drill to get tailback Cain Robinson a game-winning touchdown that looked easy. Robinson finished with 121 yards on 22 carries and the lone touchdown.
