Every season a new crop of talented recruits make their way into the CFSL. And every season there are some awesome names in the class. To honor these great names, here are the best names (according to me) in the Season 22 Class.

Honorable Mentions

There are so many great names, but I wanted to widdle it down to the ten best. However, I just couldn’t leave these names off. TE Cyrus Sapp is a middle name away from being a serial killer, which is awesome. TD Hurd is a great name for a halfback, but it was a little too on the nose to make the final ten. Pop Williams is a name with a lot of old-school flair.

All of these names are great, but they barely missed the top 10. Coming in at 10 is…

#10 QB Bear Michaels

Bear is a top-tier first name. It inspires fear in the heart of the opponent. If Bear Michaels was a DT or MLB he would have been higher on this list, but he still deserves a spot in the top 10.

#9 CB Maverick Berlin

The Berlin Wall is back baby! Inside of shutting down the run, the Berlin Wall covers all. This is awesome for me, as a broadcaster. Also, Maverick is a great first name.

#8 WR Ragnar Wood

If you are a history guy (and I am) then you have stumbled across the name Ragnar before. Ragnar Lothbrook was one of the most feared Vikings of his era. Sharing a name with a legendary Viking gets him on the list.

#7 MLB Alfredo Barfield

Get ready for plenty of “Alfredo is eating” calls this season. This is a fantastic name that I strongly considered putting higher on my list. The only drawback is that every time I hear it I start getting hungry.

#6 WR Dash Potts

There is something about this name that I love. Perhaps it is because it sounds like the name of the first star wideout in college football history. In my mind, Dash Potts caught passes from Sammy Baugh and never wore a helmet.

#5 QB Spunky Tolbert

With a first name like Spunky, you better be good at football. This name sounds like the comic relief from an 80s sitcom, which is why I love it. However, with a first name like Spunky, you better be good at football.

#4 TE Hoss Carter

You just know this dude is going to be a great run blocker. How could he not with a name like Hoss? You just know this guy brings a lunch pail work ethic.

#3 TE Hamilton Berger

Murph was hoping this name would land him on this list and he got his wish. I have already planned a few Ham Berger puns that will be used in the next four seasons. Be sure to blame Nate for them.

#2 WR Aniyah Late

Hamilton Berger, somehow, isn’t even the best recruit in his own household. Aniyah Late (sound it out) is an all-time great name. This would have been an easy #1 if she played on defense.

#1 QB Bojack Merriweather

Bojack Merriweather sounds like a turn-of-the-century Southern tycoon. If I had told you he was the third cousin of Cornelius Vanderbilt you probably would have believed me. Also, Bojack is a sick first name on its own. Overall, this is my favorite name in the class.
