Arguably, the most difficult task for a new AD in Season 24 belongs to Rob Green. Rob comes to Athens from “The Plains” of Auburn and is looking to get the Bulldogs going in the right direction. In this edition of our series with the new ADs, we sit and get to know Rob a little better.

Rob joined the CFSL back in Season 16 and became a GA under Beard at Texas in Season 17. The next season would see him named Defensive Coordinator and then Assistant Head Coach for the senior season of his first player. He would go on to spend 5 more seasons as the AHC for Beard. Rob credits Beard and says he “taught me a lot”, but also says other coaches like David Ware helped along the way.

Texas DE Robert Green hit DuBois to the turf to get the sack.

From a player standpoint, Rob has had highly productive guys on the field. 32 career sacks at Texas as his defensive end and a career record-setting touchdown wide receiver at Auburn. Not too shabby. Neither player won an award, but productivity doesn’t always lead to accolades.

On why he wanted to become an AD:

“Just something I’ve always wanted to do. After becoming a coach, I thought it would be a nice challenge to accept and see how I stack up against the other ADs.”

On the challenge he faces taking over at Georgia and getting things going the right way, Rob had this to say:

“We’re going to take it one season at a time. Every season, just work to get better. Success isn’t built overnight. It’ll take time and patience.”

Like with every other AD, I asked about his short and long-term goals for the program. He, too, has the overall betterment of the league in mind:

“Short term, I want to create a locker room that everyone wants to be a part of. Get activity up and have fun. Long term would be to be in the running for championships and to help build future coaches and ADs.”

Knowing that Rob was committed to helping the careers of new coaches and ADs, I asked about the obvious situation at Georgia. Rob followed Beard to Auburn, and now Hoss has followed him to Athens. A well-respected member of the CFSL community, Hoss has the respect and attention of his now AD, as well:

Auburn TE Hoss Carter laid out in the endzone to make the diving grab for a touchdown.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever live up to those who helped me (Beard, Ware), but if Hoss takes something from me and it helps him- I’ll be happy. Getting Hoss to follow was very important and huge for me. I know what he’s capable of and just needed a way to show it.”

Again, I poised the question about which former player you’ve coached that you’d like to have on your new squad. Rob was quick and adamant with his answer:

“Scally for sure. That dude is a workhorse at every position he has made and is dedicated.”

When asked what the Georgia Bulldogs are getting in the locker room from Rob Green, he had this to say:

“They are getting someone who is going to put in the work even on the bad days. Someone that will be there for them, even if it’s just a chill guy to talk and hang with.”

Lastly, I prodded for a little personal information. Outside of the CFSL, who is Rob Green?

Well, he’s been married almost 10 years (he thinks). Has a 10-year-old son who is getting into baseball, and another son due in September! Rob is currently installing windows and doors, but is a successful and experienced motorcycle mechanic as well. He started his own business doing just that. He’s just an overall college football fan who doesn’t tend to root for the trendy teams like Bama. If you made him pick a squad, it would be Syracuse, as he was born there.

I enjoyed getting to know Rob a little more. Congrats on that baby boy, and best of luck to the Georgia Bulldogs in Season 24.
