Week two will close with two exciting matchups. The first one of the night sees Miami (1-0) take on USC (0-1) in what will be these two teams first ever meeting between these two teams while the night will close with Michigan (0-1) traveling to Florida (0-1) in a game where both teams will look for their first win on the year.

Miami vS. USC

 

The Hurricanes are fresh off of a great defensive showing against Michigan. They held the Wolverines to only seven points and less than 250 yards. Miami’s elite secondary will look to continue to stake their claim as one of the leagues best. Sophomore corner Joe Kerr and freshman safety Perry Pennel both looked excellent in their debuts. On the opposite end of the field Miami is coming off of a lackluster offensive performance. Receiver Nick Bagg will look to establish himself once again as one of the premier receivers in the league. Quarterback Jose Bueno will need to get him and wide-outs Maximilian Mack and King Twixx more involved moving forward.

 

USC will look to rebound after a nail biter loss to Alabama. Quarterback Kingston Fox looked excellent in his season debut despite the loss and will need to continue to be the motor for this team moving forward. Tight end Monte Jones and receiver Jace Rosser both had great debuts for USC and were key options for Fox in the passing game. On the defensive side of the ball USC is going to need a great game from their secondary. Specifically, corners Johnathon Greene and Marcellus Burney, and safety Aiden Berry. If they can hold down the pass game and linebacker Xavier Halle is able to stop whatever run game the Hurricanes can come up with then this should be a very winnable game for USC.

 

Miami 30, USC 24

 

 

Michigan vs. Florida

 

Michigan only gave up one touchdown in its last game but it also gave up two field goals while only scoring one touchdown for itself. This offense is going to need to start putting up numbers if it wants to win and that all starts with quarterback Dewey Ainge. Ainge has one of the best receiving corps in the league but if he wants to win he has to get his playmakers involved. Both Anthony Robertson III and Giorgio Pipino need to be more involved for this offense to get to the level it wants to be at. Defensively, this team will live and die by their D-line. Defensive end Atlas Zervos and defensive tackle Barkivious Oswald are some real difference makers and after one game have shown they are prone to getting after the quarterback and stopping plays at the line of scrimmage. Throw in defensive end Jay Washington and this unit gets even scarier. Junior safety Xavier Williams needs to help anchor this secondary more. It’s not a star studded group yet, but they are capable of making big plays when the game is on the line.

 

Florida just got their bell rung last week, but they are looking to bounce back against the similarly 0-1 Michigan. Freshman quarterback Mathias St. John looked nervous in his first ever game but, with time and experience, he looks like a guy who can settle in and be a big time football player for Florida. Speaking of big time football players, tailback Avery Jordan is still on this Gators’ team and he will be hungry after that loss last week. Flip to the defensive side of the ball to see a unit that was thoroughly defeated last week and will need to put their best foot forward to never let that happen again. Linebacker Wyatt King is coming off an impressive 15 tackle performance that made him a potential player of the week candidate. He can continue his impressive freshman campaign against the Wolverines who are coming off of a lackluster running performance. In the secondary corner Dakota Wolf will be leaned on as well as safety Elliot Wells to lock down opposing wide receivers and keep Florida in games. Wolf will also need to continue his stellar special teams play as he set a CFSL record last week with 360 kick return yards, most in a game, and scored twice, which tied a record.
