Heck is a prospective defensive end from small-town Mondovi, Wisconsin, and played for the Buffaloes at Mondovi High School. There Heck was named team MVP his senior year and made first-team All-State and first-team All-Conference. Heck led his division in sacks and fumble recoveries. Heck helped his team reach two state qualifiers and one run at the title, however, they ultimately finished 3rd. Heck also lettered in wrestling, where he qualified for state his senior year, and baseball.
