The third and final leg of the Sammons bloodline.
It started with Duane – the HOF older brother who cemented himself as the Steroid Era’s benchmark halfback. The only back in CFSL history with four straight rushing titles. Then came Charlie, the gunslinger signal-caller who strong-armed his wily group of Kentucky Cats to a national title right behind him. But what nobody failed to mention once was the fact a bona fide savage lay in wake back on the homestead.
Much like his brethren, the accomplishments and attributes leap off the page, but one look at this gargantuan has onlookers doing an immediate double-take. Birth name undisclosed, this man answers simply to the name Mad Dog.
As his older siblings rewrote the record books for the last nine seasons, this pitbull was busy doing his damnedest to keep up with the Joneses. The end result of chasing his stalwart siblings’ coattails was a kamikaze three-down MIKE linebacker who, as scary as it sounds, is hardly even a finished product.
The turnovers and tackles-for-loss run a distant second to the eye test for this mack truck. The buzz on the 6A high school football front was Sammons being single-handedly responsible for filling infirmary beds and opposing backfields meeting their insurance deductibles. Nicknamed “The Grave Digger” after a six-sack, two-INT performance in the state title game his junior year, this killer enters the collegiate fray seemingly cut from granite and stone.
But just who’s going to be foolish enough to enter the middle of the field with this menace on the loose?
