Kaleb Allen grew up in a middle class family in Colorado which featured a father who wasn’t a great athlete but his mother was a high school monster in her day but her athletic career got cut short her freshman year due to a career ending foot injury stopping her from being able to play D1 basketball. Originally the plan was to keep Kaleb away from physical sports only allowing him to play flag football where he excelled as a QB and leader but his teams always ended up falling short only winning 3 games at most his first four years. But finally a kid he grew up with and played football with wanted him to come and play tackle football finally on their team and after some convincing was allowed to by his parents.
When he started playing in middle school it came natural to an extent but a lot of it was his raw power allowing him to play the run really well. But after those middle school years he decided it was time to finally make this more than just a hobby and dedicate his life to football.
Walking into highschool at first Kaleb did lift with the other Freshmen but as the coaches watched they realized this would only hold his development up and had him lift with the upperclassmen When high school started Kaleb did play on his freshman team as the varsity squad was working on going to state. But this gave Kaleb the chance to really focus in the gym knowing the games didn’t matter as much with it not counting towards making the playoffs. He was a freshman captain however. His freshman year was good playing both ways being a LT but mainly an end especially when a play needed to be made.
After his freshman year where the team lost in the state title game but they had him dressed for games and practice with the varsity team through the playoffs Kaleb was a planned starter which only gave more motivation for him to work his ass off in the gym allowing him to develop more pass rush moves which at the time he lacked. But his power alone didn’t make him a horrible pass rusher. He had a quiet year stat wise his sophomore year but the film showed plenty of flashes.
His junior year he was much louder both on and off the field, he became more of a leader on the team as his teammates saw his ability and knew he was gonna have a loud year. On the field he shined, being named first team all state for the first time and ending up top 10 in sacks and TFL’s as a junior. But his off season work never stopped continuing to hit the gym.
His senior year was by far his best, a captain every year of his senior campaign as he continued to make play after play. Ending up being top 7 in sacks and top 10 in TFL’s. While in high school he never was able to get a state championship ring, never ever getting back to the big game since his freshman year. But his development was great especially as a power rusher, his single arm and push pull became elite by the end of his senior year. But his ability to be a finesse rusher lacked big time. He then waited not knowing if he’d get the chance to play college ball.
